The Suzuki SX4, the much talked about concept is a reality now. The new Suzuki SX4 or the Sport X-over vehicle will participate in the World Rally Championship (WRC) this year. It was launched at the 76th Geneva International Motor Show as a revolutionary concept by Suzuki Motor Corporation. Hailed as an important marketing initiative by the Suzuki Motor Corporation, WRC is the perfect platform for testing the limits of the SX4.
First came the Peugeot 307 and then came the real rally car: the Peugeot 307 WRC. The Peugeot 307 WRC has been built for the ultimate challenge, which is the World Rally Championships. Conceptualized and developed at the Velizy Motorsport plant, the Peugeot 307 WRC was brought to life by a dedicated team of engineers, designers, and other workmen.
The Peugeot 307 WRC is considered an innovation because it is enabled with a number of technically advanced features. One of the most prominent features is the gearbox, which is a Hewland 5-speed and has not been longitudinally mounted as in the Peugeot 206 WRC. One of the advanced features is the XU7JP4 engine block. It is an all-aluminum unit that packs a punch with the 2.0-litre engine, which can produce a maximum power of 300bhp at 5,250 rpm with a torque of 391 lb-ft at 3,500 rpm. Now that’s what we call a really wild horse!
Subaru unveiled the actual car it will be offering up to the rally gods, and it is indeed based on the production Impreza WRX STI, that was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show. Designed for Group N competition, the rally car of course features a 2.0L 304 HP and 422Nm of torque.. The car still needs approval by the International Automobile Federation (FIA) to race, but Subaru expects it to be approved by January 1st, 2008.
The main competitor for subaru in N4 group remain Mitsubishi Evolution, that has recently presented Evo X
2007 October 26 the new Lancer evolution x has debuted in Rally Japan (WRC round 14th). N4 group “Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X” drove as “course” cars. Fan opinions about the car are good, not like - about new “Subaru Impreza WRX”, that took the same rally as course car too.
“Ralliart” has prepared these cars together with “MMSP”. Mitsubishi used “Pirelli P-Zero” tyres.
“Mitsubishi” representative claim that the car will be homologated only in the middle of 2008, so rally fans will have to wait for the cars to appear in championship. Rumors say that the first “Evo X”, might be Jasper Heuvelas.
